We’ve talked about Google Fit around here quite a bit recently, and our one main critique is that it doesn’t have as many features as other popular fitness apps. That changes today with the latest Google Fit update.
Google has been on a quest to bring dark mode to just about every one of its apps, and that now extends to Google Fit. Once the Google Fit update hits your smartphone, you’ll be able to apply a dark theme to the app from the settings menu. Great!
Perhaps the most welcome improvement to Google Fit this week is the addition of sleep charts. Once you connect your favorite sleep app to Google Fit, you’ll be able to track your sleep and see patterns overtime inside the app. You can also add, edit, and access your sleep history inside the Journal section of Google Fit at any time.
iOS users benefit from the Google Fit update, too. Android users have always been able to view workouts with a map of their routes inside Google Fit, and now this functionality is coming to the iOS app. Once the update rolls out, iPhone users will be able to see their running, hiking, and biking routes inside Google Fit as long as they track with a Wear OS smartwatch, Apple Watch, or other apps connected to Google Fit.
Google will roll out these updates to Android and iOS over the next week.
