On its forums, OnePlus announced today that the kernel sources for the OnePlus 7 Pro are now available on Github. The kernel sources for the regular OnePlus will be updated soon.
Having the kernel sources available means that developers can get started on custom kernels for the newest OnePlus phones. It also means that developers can start working on custom AOSP-based ROMs like LineageOS and Pixel Experience for the devices.
OnePlus also announced that the Android Q beta is now available for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro here and here, respectively. The steps for installing the beta are the same as they are for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. Make sure to check out our guide on how to install the Android Q beta on non-Pixel phones.
According to OnePlus, there are seven known issues that are listed below:
- Ambient Display is not working.
- System stability issues.
- Cannot send SMS when VoLTE is on.
- Navigation gesture is not working.
- Recovery mode doesn’t work.
- Some apps may not function as expected.
- Issue with MTP that doesn’t allow you to copy rollback file from PC to phone.
To install the update, your phone must have at least 3GB of storage and have a battery level above 30 percent. OnePlus also notes that you run the risk of bricking your phone, though you should be fine if you follow the steps.
