Motorola One Macro surfaces online: A phone with macro video/photo capabilities?

Motorola’s One branded line of devices keeps growing, and it doesn’t look like it has any plans to slow down. XDA Developers recently got its hands on leaked information about one of the next mid-range Motorola One devices: The Motorola One Macro. Motorola One Macro LeakXDA Developers

It seems that the device has already been certified by the FCC, but it is still in the early development stages. So far, it looks like the Motorola One Macro will come with a 1,520 x 720 19:9 display, the MediaTek Helio P60 or P70 SoC, 3 or 4GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of storage, and a 4,000mAh battery.

The One Macro could also come with either NFC support or dual SIM support, depending on the market. It also supports a physical fingerprint scanner, though we can’t see it given that XDA Developers weren’t able to get a photo of the back of the device.

Based on the color of the power and volume buttons, it looks like the back of device could rock a deep purple chassis. We do know that Motorola has been preparing an “Iron” and a “Cosmo” color for this device, so our best guess is that this is the Cosmo variant.

Apparently, Motorola has been working on a macro photo and video mode for one of its new devices, so it would make sense that the One Macro would include this functionality. But apart from speculation, we don’t know much about the camera setup. And since there isn’t a photo of the back, we don’t even know what the cameras will look like.

Finally, the device is running Android 9 Pie with some Motorola customization over top, though it reportedly won’t run Android One — that’s pretty confusing, given the “One” branding in its name. The recently released Motorola One Zoom also carries the One branding without running the Android One operating system, so this isn’t too crazy of an idea.

It looks like the device will launch in Brazil, Latin America, Asia Pacific countries, and Europe. We haven’t heard anything about a U.S. launch, but there is still plenty of time for the details to change before the device comes to market.
