Qualcomm made quite a splash at IFA 2019 when it announced that it’s bringing 5G to Snapdragon 600, Snapdragon 700, and Snapdragon 800 series processors.
The move takes us a big step closer to cheaper 5G phones, and there are few major brands with cheaper devices than Realme. Now, the Chinese company has announced in an emailed press release that it will offer a smartphone with a new Snapdragon 700 series 5G chipset.
Realme says the new phone will offer support for “all key regions and network bands,” as well as supporting standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) networks.
The Chinese brand also confirmed a couple of details about this upcoming Snapdragon 700 series processor. It noted that the chipset will be manufactured on a 7nm process, will offer Qualcomm’s next-generation AI Engine, and will deliver Snapdragon Elite Gaming features.
These details seem pretty similar to the Snapdragon 730 series, which offers a slightly larger 8nm process, AI Engine, and Snapdragon Elite Gaming features. The latter includes tech to reduce in-game stutter and HDR gaming support, so we’ll likely see these features on the 5G chipset too.
Realme also revealed that it will offer a device with a Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, although additional details weren’t forthcoming. However, the brand has confirmed that it will bring more products in 2019.
We already know the Realme XT is coming later this year, but it’s possible that the Snapdragon 855 Plus phone is also on the cards before the end of the year. After all, what’s the point of launching a Snapdragon 855 Plus device in 2020 when the next flagship Snapdragon silicon will be available by then?
